In our second show, Pat and I talk about JQuery that has jumped on both our radars, I interview Sanjay Bhatia, who founded Izenda a few years back and now runs a 20+ ISV.

Starting this episode, we’re experimenting with an actual podcast format:
1. Pat and Bob talk over a few interesting business and technology developments since the last show that impact startups and microISVs. We especially want your emails on what you’d like us to dig into.
2. I offer up a microISV tip of the week (this week is about when to ask for the sale)
3. I and/or Pat interview someone who’s good some useful experience/insight to share with the microISV/startup community.
4. Pat provides a Microsoft-related tip: this week its getting started with the Vista Sidebar.
5. One of us make a book/video/site recommendation we think you’ll find really worthwhile.
Please let us know what you think of this format – it’s definitely a work in progress!

Be sure to check out mootools.net if you’re looking at javascript framework. It does everything that jquery does, but takes the nicer approach of keeping the dom elements default behavior and just extending it. For example, once you run an element through jquery, like var myBody=$(‘#myBody’), you can’t treat it like a normal javascript dom manipulation, like with myBody.innerHTML=’My Body Content’. I don’t think this is too cool. Mootools doesn’t have this problem, plus it seems a lot snappier. I’ve been using both frameworks for different project for about 2-3 years now, and mootools is definitely my favorite.
Bob, Patrick. I just finished listening to this and I REALLY ENJOYED IT! I like the shorter, more structured format, I LOVED the interview, and the Microsoft tip at the end was framed in a way that made me want to listen to it. Congrats on such huge improvements in just one session, and thanks again for putting this together. I’ll be sure to subscribe on iTunes for the future podcasts.
One request: can we see a picture of your faces, perhaps on this site? I keep trying to imagine what you guys look like as I listen to you! Is that weird?
Hi Peldi – thanks! You’ll find our pics on the About page. I’d point you to a video I did a year ago for the extended version of me, but it’s not Halloween yet!
